Located in south-central Kentucky, Wayne County lies in both the Mississippian plateau and the Eastern Kentucky coal fields. Beautiful Lake Cumberland forms much of the northern border of Wayne County, while Tennessee forms the southern border. Wayne County has a large labor supply and an expanding manufacturing economy.

Primary and Secondary Schools

Primary and secondary education is provided to Monticello and Wayne Co. by the Monticello Independent and the Wayne County School Systems. Wayne County has recently completed a new 6.3 million dollar high school. The community is serviced by four pre-schools: Monticello Preschool, Wayne County Early Childhood Learning Center, Little Mountain Academy, and the Monticello Independent School Pre-School.
