Building A Better Community...Together

A Message from the Mayor

On behalf of the City of Monticello, welcome to the Monticello/Wayne County Chamber of Commerce web site. Our area is one of unsurpassed beauty: from historic Mill Springs (the largest over-shot water wheel in the world and still in operation) to magnificent Lake Cumberland (with more than 1200 miles of shore line) to the Dough-Boy monument in downtown Monticello, to the gently rolling hills of farmland. Monticello has often been called The Houseboat Capital of the World, with many manufacturers of fine houseboats calling this area their home.

Whether you are a retiree considering making a move to a more simple lifestyle near excellent health-care facilities, a professional wishing to escape the hectic life of urban America, a company seeking to relocate in an area which boasts an excellent work-force and high work ethics with business-friendly laws, a visitor planning your next recreational vacation, or a current resident of this area, Monticello/Wayne County is an excellent place to visit, work and live.

Kentucky hospitality, always a point of pride for the early settlers, continues to be a part of our culture today. Enjoy your virtual tour of our area and be assured that our friendly citizens and resourceful government will make your real visit to Monticello/Wayne County a memorable one.

--Kenneth Catron, Mayor of the City of Monticello
