Parks and Recreation

Recreational facilities in the area include supervised recreation programs sponsored by the Monticello-Wayne County Park and Recreation Board. The 86-acre Monticello-Wayne County Memorial Park has five shelters, roller skating, two playgrounds, three basketball courts, three lighted tennis courts, volleyball, badminton, horseshoe, croquet, four softball fields, one baseball field, and horseback riding trails.

The Wayne County Youth/Community Center is a welcome addition to the area's recreational arena. The 11,624 square foot building contains a gymnasium, multi-purpose room, kitchen, reception hall, video conference room and much more inside. The opportunities outside the building are as plentiful. The center boasts basketball goals, a walking track, soccer field and picnic and social area.

Private facilities include a country club, a nine-hole golf course, two swimming pools, a movie theater, and two tennis court.

Recreational areas within a one hour drive from Monticello-Wayne County include: Beaver Creek Resort, Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, Conley Bottom Resort, Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park, Mill Springs, and the Daniel Boone National Forest.
