October 3, 2021 Press Release
Monticello Wayne County Chamber of Commerce
The Monticello Market, Downtown event ends with a bang!
Serving over 200 different vendors and featured vehicles throughout the Monticello Market, Downtown this
year, it is undeniable that this event was a success.
Since July, the Monticello-Wayne County Chamber of Commerce has hosted this event on the 1st Saturday of
the month. Each month vendors including antiques, arts, boutiques, crafts, food trucks, wood working and
more have gathered from all over Kentucky and Tennessee in Downtown Monticello. Included were monthly
special show and shine events such as antique tractors in August, Jeeps in September and ending the market
in October with motorcycles.
Having such an event in our community promotes economic development, supports our small businesses and creates culture. Regular events like these enhance the overall betterment of Monticello, Wayne County and cultivate a thriving community. All of which are related to the mission of our Chamber of Commerce.
“I’m so proud of the progress Monticello, KY is making towards bringing their community together for the betterment of their people. The Monticello Market, Downtown is helping spur not only economic development, but it’s adding excitement and pride to a town that’s on the rise. In addition to the Market, I love the idea of the scavenger hunt for chairs and visiting swinging bridges. It’s marinating the latest technologies of using smart phones, with the nostalgia of almost forgotten history. Having the backdrop of Lake Cumberland is the icing on their sweet cake for this Appalachian town!” Farrah Dobbs, Marketing Director, The Kentucky Wildlands.
“I really, really appreciate the Monticello Market. It gives us small businesses an opportunity to be like a brick and-mortar store… without the overhead cost. Our community can then see that yes, we do have boutiques, jewelry stores, specialty shops, art studios, etc. in Wayne County. And it all can be found at the Monticello
Market! Keep up the good work.” said Telene Hancock, Independent Avon Representative.
“The downtown market is a phenomenal event! I am truly honored to have been a part of it!” said Andrea
Brown, Usborne Books Representative. She went on to say “The Chamber of Commerce has worked
extremely hard to help not only build our community, but also boost and showcase the many talents and small
businesses we have in our community. Having the event once a month allows us as vendors to become
familiar faces in our community and allows the community to have an event they can look forward to every
month. I not only gained new customers that I love and cherish, but new friends as vendors for all the unique
products and gifts I am constantly on the search for as a consumer!” Andrea also stated, “I am honestly sad it
has come to an end for the year, but I look forward to participating in the downtown market next year!!”
Next year the Monticello Market, Downtown will run on the 1st Saturday of each month April – October. Stay
tuned for the official line up announcements of our featured events for 2022.
Planning has begun and sponsors are excited to commit for next year’s festivities. If you would like to become
